Hero's Path Palliative Care

Supporting families on their path of quality of life.

What does a hero look like?  To me, it looks like a child.  In it's most simplistic form, a hero is simply one who shows great courage.  Children facing serious illness often have to be brave minute by minute.  The procedures, appointments, surgeries, and day to day management of their symptoms require a great deal of grit both on the child's part and the family.  These children and families engage in some of the most difficult battles with great love, compassion for others, and even joy.  Ralph Waldo Emerson says, "What lies behind you and what lies in front of you, pales in comparison to what lies inside of you."  I think this is what enables us to persevere.  We see what lies within our children with special health care needs and we are inspired to walk the journey with them.

At Hero's Path Palliative Care, we believe that these children bring great value to society.  We are honored to be able to walk with families and children, supporting the care plans and goals that enable the child to live their best life.  Quality of life matters.  We will help families achieve their goals through our palliative care services, respite, and hospice care if needed.  We endeavor to provide educational and emotional support to siblings and other family members as we care for some of the most amazing heroes this world has seen!

Hero's Path Palliative Care desires to bring home-based pediatric palliative care to New Mexico.  We hope to support children with serious illness and their families.  Our logo was thoughtfully designed with these children in mind.

  • Children with serious illness are heroes.  "A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles."  --Christopher Reeve
  • Rabbits symbolize hope, prosperity, comfort, love, intuition, cleverness, motion, harmony, new opportunities, sensitivity, and imagination. Children and families facing serious illness embody these principles and will be the focal point of our attention.
  • Climbing over a mountain or passing through a range indicates overcoming obstacles or making progress.
  • The color yellow signifies sunshine, hope, and happiness, positivity, clarity, energy, optimism, enlightenment, remembrance, intellect, honor, loyalty, and joy.
  • Turquoise is traditionally New Mexican, and means refreshing, calming, energy, wisdom, serenity, wholeness, creativity, emotional balance, good luck, spiritual grounding, friendship, love, joy, tranquility, patience, intuition, and loyalty.

We want the families we serve to know we strive to bring happiness, hope, clarity, refreshing, and wholeness to their journey on their child's path to quality life!  We know these children bring love, intuition, wisdom, and many other things to our lives every day.  We will honor each person we serve.
